Reigning WBC boxing jeavyweight champion Tyson Fury has expalined the collapse of the propse fight with compatriot Anthony Joshua.

A fight between Fury andd Joshua was in the works with both Top Rank and Matchroom boxing negotiting terms for their respectives clients.

Fury called out Joshua after he failed to regain the  WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF heavyweight boxing titles in a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk that took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Gypsy King said he was willing to take on Joshua in an all-British heavyweight showdown to satisfy the fans of the sport.

Negotations were going on and halted following the death of the United Kingdom's longest-serving monarch Her Royal Majesety Queen Elizabeth II.

Fury on Joshua fight breakdown

Following resumption of negottaions, Fury gave an ultimatum to Joshua to sign for teh fight.

Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn in isted that a fight of this magnitude could not be concluded in a space of a short time.

The deal did not progess as Fury stated that time has run out hence moving on to secure a trilogy fight against Derek Chisora.

Ahead of his third fight with Chisora, Fury explained why the fight with Joshua did not work out from hgis side.

He said, I just don't think he ever wanted to fight because if he did I'd be fighting Joshua right now rather than Derek chazora one of his people who he manages.

"If you want to fight you tell your team you want it and they're saying now oh it was because of commercial rights now commercial rights sponsors and stuff so.

"If one of my sponsors tell me oh I can't fight you Zara what am I going to say here of that you're not my sponsor anymore do you want."

Fury still wants Joshua fight

The Gypsy King still wants to fight Joshua in the future because of the impirtance to their respective careers.

He added,  "I don't think I can retire today. "Because I need that Joshua fight. We have been trying to make that fight for years.

"It's the fight that people want to see. It's the fight that I want to see as a boxing fan."

"But I think it would be an absolute dying travesty if me and Joshua didn't fight in this era."

Joshua has stated he plans to return to the ring in 2023 while Fury takes on Chisora for the third time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium London on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
