Nigeria names team for U-18 girls tourney, departs for Zone 3 Phase

Nigeria's U-18 girls’ handball team left the country's shore on Monday for the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 phase in Accra Ghana.

Coach Shittu Agboola Adewunmi's tutored side has been training at the Rowe Park Sports Center in Lagos ahead of the competition.

The team will participate in the under-18 category and has been drawn in Group A alongside the host, Ghana, Liberia and Niger Republic.

Nigeria begins their campaign against the Niger Republic in the very first match of the competition.

The match will hold at the Tennis Arena of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ahead of the Phase 3 battle, Coach Adewunmi has named his final list of 14 players that will defend Nigeria’s honour at the championship.

The players include Rahima Bello of Rima Babes and Vera John of Bayelsa Queens, who was the national division one most valuable player in Benin City, Edo State.

Before their departure, the team played two key friendly matches against the Lagos U-18 boys team and an All-Star Senior Female Team to help the team adequately prepare for the tournament.
