'In my mind, Manchester City already lost their last game' - Klopp reveals weird motivation for continuing title chase

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his motivation for going all out to win every Premier League game left for Liverpool this season. 

The German tactician stated that he approaches every game as if Manchester City already lost their previous game and Liverpool will get the title if they win their next one. 

Klopp noted that this was the mindset that helped Liverpool secure a comeback 2-1 victory away at Aston Villa on Tuesday night. 

In his post-match press comments as reported by the Liverpool official website, Klopp stated that he has sold this mindset to his players and they are all following it.

Klopp said: "For me, it’s absolutely no problem. I spoke in the press conference and I invited the boys to follow my [thinking]. 

"In my mind, we were six points behind City before the last matchday and then we won and they lost and we were only three points. I came here today with that mindset.

"It means we are still chasing like mad. Honestly, maybe because I’m a bit dumb, but it works brilliantly for me! And the boys are invited to follow that path.

The Liverpool manager stated that he does not stress over Manchester City losing or not, he only knows that his Reds team must win their games and they are doing that. 

Klopp also confirmed that he has got his eye on the FA Cup final against Chelsea this weekend, stressing that there is 'no mercy' anywhere and it is Liverpool's 'fault' that they qualified for all the finals. 

"We don’t waste energy to think, ‘Hopefully they lose’ or whatever. No, we just know we have to win, that didn’t change at all," Klopp said.

"Now we have to recover, really recover and then to play the FA Cup final because there’s obviously no mercy anywhere. We caused this situation ourselves by qualifying for all finals, which is absolutely massive. 

"And now we play an incredibly big game and from Thursday on we’ll prepare that with the boys."

Liverpool are still three points behind Manchester City on the Premier League table despite having played one game more. 

Klopp and his squad need Pep Guardiola's City to lose one of their last three league games against Wolverhampton Wanderers (A), West Ham United (A), or Aston Villa (H) to stand a chance of wrestling the title from City's hands.
