Innocent Media, Oscar Mawa on target for Italian outfit

Former Uganda Premier League stars Innocent Media and Oscar Mawa were on target as their team, Unione Sportiva Lucera Calcio, thrashed Cosmano Sport 3-0 on Thursday.

The pair netted one apiece as Lucera Calcio at the Stade Comunale to extend their impressive run.

Media opened the day's scoring in the 19th minute before substitute Mawa made it 2-0 in the 88th minute. David Pozzo added a third later in the 92nd minute for Calcio.

Mawa was scoring his fourth goal in two matches, having netted a hat-trick during the weekend as Lucera Calcio beat Santeramo 4-2 on Sunday.

It was his second hat-trick since joining the team in December 2022, with his first coming on his debut in January this year.

Meanwhile, Lucera Calcio features in the sixth division championships in the Italian football ranks, the Promozione.

It's worth noting that both Mawa and Media have formerly featured in the Uganda Premier League, with the latter at Arua Hill SC while the former was at SC Villa.

Media only left for Italy towards the start of the current 2023/24 season, having excelled with the Leopards as he netted nine times in 17 league appearances.
