Ishmail Wainright: Silverbacks forward back to Phoenix Suns in the NBA

Uganda Silverbacks star forward Ishmail Wainright has returned to the National Basketball League with Phoenix Suns, penning down a two-way contract.

The two-way contract will be active for the remainder of the regular season, but won't be eligible for Suns' playoff roster unless the contract is converted to an NBA-scale deal.

Initially, he played 105 games across his first two seasons (2021-2023) with Phoenix, including two starts last campaign.

Wainright, 29, was then traded to the Blazers by the Phoenix Suns in the three-team trade that sent Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks just before the season started.

Wainright played in seven games for the Blazers earlier this season, averaging 2.9 points per game.

However, the Blazers released Wainright on January 6, and he has been without an NBA home since then.

But, he returns to the Phoenix Suns, who are keen to make a push for the playoffs in the Western Conference.
