The top scorer of the 2022 FUFA Big League etched his name on the score sheet for the first time this season during a 1-1 league draw against S.C Villa on Sunday, artfully converting Darius Ojok's cross from the right at the hour mark.

Although the visitors managed to level the score five minutes later courtesy of Arnold Odongo, Amaku is content with opening his account.

"We played well; we aimed for maximum points, but it wasn't to be. However, scoring my first goal felt great.”

“I have been eagerly anticipating it; unfortunately, we conceded an equaliser," remarked Amaku. "This is just the beginning as I am striving to surpass last season's goal tally."

The 27-year-old forward netted ten goals last season, helping Maroons secure a tenth-place finish, even as he grappled with injuries.

Maroons FC has so far garnered four points from as many games and is keen on resuming their winning streak when they face off against KCCA FC next Tuesday at the MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.

Sergio Traguil's squad is feeling the heat after their initial league outing resulted in a 1-0 loss to BUL FC on Saturday.

Before they meet Maroons, Traguil's team braces for the significant challenge of eliminating Abu Salim SC to advance to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages—an achievement they haven't realised since 2017.

The Libyan side holds a 3-1 advantage from the first leg in Tunisia, setting the stage for a crucial return leg on Saturday, 30th September.

These events spotlight the heightened competition and the intricate blend of strategy, skill, and tenacity fundamental to the game's core.
