'It's wickedness' — Nigerian journalist laments Napoli's treatment of Osimhen amidst rumoured clause
Victor Osimhen’s potential transfer to Galatasaray has sparked more controversy, with a prominent Nigerian journalist criticising Napoli’s latest demands as “madness” and “wickedness.”
The Nigerian striker remains locked in a complicated tug-of-war between his current club and the Turkish champions, with new contract clauses threatening to derail the deal entirely.
Journalist fumes over Napoli’s €75m stance and ‘unreasonable’ sell-on clause
Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba did not hold back his frustration as Napoli’s latest transfer terms surfaced online.
Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), Laba criticised the Italian club’s hierarchy for what he sees as excessive demands on a player entering the final year of his contract.
“How can you be requesting for a Sell on clause for a player with 1 year left on his contract and selling for €75m in total! It’s Madness,” he posted.

- when I saw the news I doubted but after confirming🤦🏾♂️!!!
I excepted the President to be Frustrating but not this. It’s Wickedness.
Laba went further to describe the club’s stance as “wickedness,” expressing disbelief that Napoli would complicate a deal Osimhen reportedly wants by attaching conditions he sees as exploitative.
His sentiment echoes growing frustration among fans who believe Napoli are holding the player hostage despite a clear personal agreement with Galatasaray.
Napoli’s rigid demands delay agreement as Galatasaray dig in
According to multiple reports from Italian sources like Alfredo Pedullà and Fabrizio Romano, Napoli continue to demand that Osimhen’s €75 million valuation be paid with strict conditions: €40 million this year, followed by €35 million next year in a single instalment.
On top of that, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis insists on a sell-on clause, a stipulation Galatasaray have flatly rejected.
The Turkish club prefers a more flexible payment structure extending into 2027 and is unwilling to include a clause that gives Napoli a future cut.
With negotiations now deadlocked, the transfer saga drags into yet another week, casting doubt over whether Osimhen will get the move he desires before the new season begins.
