Just ignore him: Gary Neville tells Man Utd fans to forget about Rashford after Barca move
Marcus Rashford’s season-long loan to Barcelona marks a new chapter for the 27-year-old England international after a turbulent period at Manchester United.
The move to the La Liga champions came after a public fallout with United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, stemming from perceived poor training and off-field incidents. Barcelona’s deal includes a £26m-£35m option to buy, with Rashford expressing a desire to stay permanently, citing the club’s “perfect environment to be successful.”
The England international recently criticized United’s management on The Rest is Football podcast, arguing the club’s frequent managerial changes—five since his 2016 debut under Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Erik ten Hag, and Amorim—have left them in “no man’s land.”
He urged United to emulate Liverpool and Manchester City’s long-term managerial stability, saying, “To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it. This is where I speak about being realistic about what your situation is. We’ve had that many different managers, ideas, and strategies to win that you end up in no man’s land.”
Gary Neville ignores Marcus Rashford after comments
On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Gary Neville dismissed Rashford’s remarks, stating, “Let’s ignore that, because I don’t want to go into Marcus Rashford comments tonight.
"He was there at the club for 10 years and had his opportunity to impact the club. Ruben Amorim, this year, I think, will do a good job. Marcus should concentrate on Barcelona.”
Rashford made 426 appearances, scoring 138 goals for United, but there remains a belief that he never reached his potential, despite having an outstanding season in 2023, where he scored 30 goals under then-manager Erik ten Hag.
