Kampala University pips MUBS to third-place spot

Kampala University finished third in the 2023/24 Pepsi University Football League after a narrow 2-1 victory over Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

Kampala University emerged the day's victors after nervy and pulsating action at the Kavumba Recreation Center, on Friday.

Goals from Nuhu Kalema and Joshua Odeke helped Kampala University to the victory.

Benjamin Nazar struck MUBS' consolation, but it was not enough to have them survive defeat in the Third-place playoff bout.

Kampala University assumed a first-half victory, in the 12th minute with Kalema's well-taken close range finish.

Three minutes into the second half, MUBS were awarded a penalty which Nazar emphatically converted. 

However, MUBS' joy didn't last long as Odeke restored Kampala University's lead with a brilliant finish to win it for his side.

Despite late surges from MUBS, Kampala University stood strong to earn the bragging rights. 

Meanwhile, Nkumba University is set tussle it out with Uganda Christian University in the final of the 2023/2024 edition slated for Saturday, at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
