Kamurinde commends Bunyaruguru's courage
Bunyaruguru came out top in the Round 32 tie thanks to a 2-1 win over the Bombo-based side at Nyakasharu Playground in Rubirizi district.
“Reaching Round 32 was history itself because it has never happened before for a team from this area to reach such a level,” head coach Sam Karuminde told Pulse Sports.
“It motivated us so much, and we wanted to go to the next stage, but a UPL club was standing in our way.”
“But the boys went beyond the limit and defeated such a big club. It takes too much courage, and I would like to thank them,” he applauded his players.
They could face yet another UPL team at the Round 16, but Kamurinde believes they know what to expect.
“Every team that has reached this stage is strong and deserves to be here no matter which league they play.”
“So that is how tough the competition is getting; it is not only the teams that play in the UPL that are strong.”
“We are ready to take on whoever comes our way, and hopefully, this adventure will continue into Round eight,” he added.
Besides Bunyaruguru, eight other teams have advanced to the Round 16; Kiyinda Boys, Vipers, Soltilo Bright Stars, Mbarara City, Wakiso Giants, Kitara, BUL, and Kisugu
