Kitara to intensify road safety campaigns after fatal accident
On Friday evening, seven Kitara FC fans were involved in a fatal accident which claimed the life of one person while the others were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
In response to the accident, Kitara FC President Deo Kasozi stated that the club will further intensify road safety campaigns.
“We are saddened that some of our fans got an accident in Kakindo trading centre in Hoima district on their way from Masindi Stadium,” a statement signed by Kasozi started.
“Kyomuhendo Timothy Junior died on the spot while six are admitted at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital where they are receiving medication.”

”We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends. We also pray for a quick healing of our fans.”
The statement added, “We shall work with Police, fans, and other stakeholders to intensify road safety campaigns. We want all our fans to be safe and secure always.”

The accident happened after Kitara FC’s 3–1 victory over Soltilo Bright Stars FC at Masindi Stadium.
Brian Ssenyondo’s charges came from a goal down after Nelson Ssenkatuka scored as early as the second minute. He is the Uganda Premier League’s leading goal scorer with ten goals.

Paul Mucureezi bagged a brace in the 34th and 50th minutes, turning it around for the Royals before Jude Ssemugabi sealed the victory in the 92nd minute.
The newly promoted side finds itself in second position with 29 points after 15 games, which is the climax of the first round.
