Bayern Munich edged out Olympique Lyon 2-1 in a friendly at the Allianz Arena and new signing Luis Diaz started on the bench but was brought on by Vincent Kompany at half-time, immediately impressing the Bavarian faithful.
Vincent Kompany's Bundesliga champions Bayern acquired Diaz this summer from Premier League champions Liverpool for a fee of €75 million.
The German champions dominated the first half, creating several good chances. However, Kingsley Coman and youngsters Lennart Karl (17) and Paul Wanner (19) couldn't find a way past Lyon goalkeeper Descamps.
Diaz came on at half-time and put in a solid performance, helping Bayern secure the victory.
The Allianz Arena crowd eagerly awaited Diaz's introduction at the start of the second half. The new Bayern signing made an immediate impact.
The Colombian instantly caused problems for Lyon's defense. A surging run down the left flank culminated in a shot that went just wide of the goal.
Diaz was involved in all of Bayern's dangerous attacks, and their sustained pressure eventually paid off. In the 53rd minute, Kompany's side were awarded a penalty, which Michael Olise confidently converted.
Olise doubled the lead seven minutes later. Diaz then had another chance to score in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper intervened. Two minutes later, Diaz's superb dribbling skills set up Gnabry, who squandered a golden opportunity to make it 3-0.

Lyon pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute through Alejandro Gomes, but Bayern, spearheaded by Diaz, continued to press forward.
In the 88th minute, the former Porto and Liverpool player almost scored a spectacular goal. His shot from a near-impossible angle was tipped away at the last moment by substitute goalkeeper Mathieu Patouillet, who had replaced Remy Descamps.
The match finished 2-1 to Bayern. Despite not scoring, Diaz had a solid debut. German journalists, particularly those at BILD, heaped praise on the new signing's performance.
