Maduka Okoye: Udinese reject transfer move for Super Eagles goalkeeper

Maduka Okoye had an outstanding season with Udinese, playing a key role in the team's battle to stay off relegation and remain in the Italian top division.

Initially, the Udinese goalkeeper was their backup, but as the season progressed, he made his way into the starting lineup.

Following his performance last season, he has been the subject of transfer speculation, with Torino looking to sign him this summer.

The former Watford goalkeeper was linked with a move to Inter Milan, the Italian Champions, earlier in the transfer season. 

However, the move did not materialise due to him being second fiddle to Yann Sommer, one of Europe's top goalkeepers.

The transfer link of the goalkeeper did not die down as Torino also made moves for the Super Eagles star, which has been rejected by Udinese.

Journalist Alfredo Pedulla of Calcio Mercato disclosed that Maduka received an offer from Torino, who no longer had faith in their starting goalkeeper, Vanja Milinković-Savić.

He wrote on X, “#Udinese blocked an attempt from #Torino for goalkeeper #Okoye. Evidently #MilinkovicSavic does not have the utmost confidence.”

The Turin-based team put in a proposal for Maduka, but Udinese turned it down because they are unwilling to deal with their best goalie.

Maduka is valued at approximately four million euros, and his contract expires in the summer of 2027. 

However, if Udinese decides to split ways with their first-choice goalkeeper, they may want a higher payment.
