Mbabazi, like Mayanja, gets it wrong with Allan Okello decision
Arguably the best Vipers SC player on the pitch against KCCA FC last evening, playmaker Allan Okello reminisced his past as he tussled with his former paymasters.
Unfortunately for him and his team, KCCA grabbed a 1-0 victory at the death, their first at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.
Unluckily still, Okello didn't make the 90 minutes as head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi subbed him off in the 79th minute for Bright Anukani.
At the time of his substitution, the game was tied at 0-0, with Vipers edging it in terms of chances created, with Okello the mastermind.
The former Paradou player was having his finest game in Vipers colours. He had kept the KCCA backline busy, making runs from deep, creating and forcing goalkeeper Anthony Emojong in a couple of stops.
But, Mbabazi, like former KCCA head coach Jackson Mayanja last season, subbed him off.
Donning the KCCA colours then, in a title decider, Okello was having pretty-decent game and had been the biggest threat to Vipers, until he got replaced in the 83rd minute for Julius Poloto.
Five minutes later, Milton Karisa grabbed the winner, as the Venoms enjoyed the freedom to attack more with the 23-year-old off.
Two games, same player, opposite corners, same decisions with similar outcomes.
Meanwhile, Okello has netted two goals with as many assists in 14 games across all competitions.
