Mbale Heroes win Regional playoffs, to face Bukedea in final hurdle
Mbale Heroes beat Kigulu United from Iganga 1-0 in an Eastern Regional playoff to edge closer to a return to the FUFA Big League.
After a back-and-forth saga with Admin FC, the Eastern Region Football Association finally settled the matter sportingly by crowning Heroes as winners of the Bukedi Region to set up a battle with Kigulu United in the regional final.
The Heroes, under coach Abbey Kikomeko, turned up the better team beating the Iganga-based side through Akram Muzanyi’s second-half goal.
Heroes will now face Bukedea Central, the winners of the North Eastern League, in the final inter-regional final for a Big-League spot.
The eight FUFA regions will fight for only four slots that are available for promotion.
