McLaren boss Andrea Stella predicts tighter Ferrari duels in second half of F1 season
McLaren Formula 1 Team Principal Andrea Stella anticipates a more engaging battle with Ferrari for the remainder of the season, believing the Scuderia is currently on the upswing.
Ferrari introduced a new floor at the Austrian Grand Prix, and since its implementation, the performance of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton has drastically improved, particularly over one lap. They are expected to receive a new rear suspension in Belgium next week, further closing the gap to McLaren.
"Looking at Ferrari's times across every session at Silverstone, they appear to be the strongest team. The margins were incredibly tight, even in qualifying, where every shift in wind made a difference. "
"Looking at Q2, they comfortably took the top two spots, so it seems the upgrade introduced in Austria is working. The second half of the season will be interesting, especially with Ferrari," Stella commented.
In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren and Ferrari hold the top two positions, but they are separated by a significant 238 points.
Given this gap, it's hard to imagine McLaren losing the title, but we can at least hope for more exciting races to the end of the year, where the fight for victory isn't solely between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
