Michael Olunga is on the verge of making history with Harambee Stars following his brace against Seychelles on Tuesday.

Olunga netted twice as Harambee Stars ran rampant against the African minnows in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at Kasarani Stadium as they won 5-0 to return to winning ways after last Friday’s 3-1 defeat to The Gambia.

The Al-Arabi striker scored the fourth and fifth goals either side of the two halves after Ryan Ogam had netted a brace in between Collins Sichenje’s goal as Benni McCarthy’s team took a 3-0 lead inside 35 minutes.

Olunga’s first goal of the day was scored via the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime after Ogam had been fouled in the box as he stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Michael Olunga Now Among Kenyan Greats

His second was a classic Olunga goal, the striker heading home perfectly after meeting Ronney Onyango’s well-delivered cross in the 67th minute.

With his two goals, Olunga has now moved to joint second on the all-time top scorer’s list for Kenya, having tied with legendary striker Dennis Oliech on 34 goals.

The 32-year-old came into the match fourth on the list with 32 goals from 66 games, behind AFC Leopards legend Elijah Lidonde (33 goals), Oliech (34) and the leading scorer William Ouma (35).

He has equaled Oliech and is now just one behind Ouma and two away from breaking the scoring record which will etch his name in Kenyan history.

With Harambee Stars left with two more qualification matches this year against Burundi and Ivory Coast in October, Olunga needs no motivation to find the target as he knows what is already at stake for him.
