Mugulusi optimistic about Hippos' World Cup ambitions

Uganda Hippos head coach Jackson Mayanja should be a happy man after the arrival of his skipper and creative midfield gem Isma Mugulusi.

Mugulusi currently on the books of Greek second division side Makedonikos Neapolis had his first run out with fellow teammates on Tuesday morning at the MUBS arena and believes the squad is well prepared.

"The boys are fit, hopefully, we shall qualify for the world cup. Of course, I have been here (Uganda) before so everything is ok, so we hope for the best." Mugulusi told pulse sports after training.

A semi final berth at the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations for the Hippos would earn them qualification for the U20 FIFA World Cup in Lebanon.

A feat if achieved would make them Uganda's first football team to ever play at a world cup.

Jackson Mayanja's charges are pooled in group B alongside Central African Republic, South Sudan and Congo.
