National Youth Games: Kwara to battle for laurels in 25 Games

Ahead of the seventh edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Kwara State has confirmed that the state will be participating in 25 games.

The Youth Games is scheduled to be held in Asaba, the Delta State Capital, from September 7th–17th.

Ibrahim Bako, Director of the State Sports Commission, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) ahead of the games.

He added that in order to prepare the athletes for success in the major event, the commission is stepping up their training.

The director outlined how the commission is forcing team coaches to step up their training to ensure successful competition.

Bako said It won't be a jamboree, because only the best will be chosen for the competition.

Kwara state will take part in Athletics, Ayo, Badminton, Baseball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Dart, Fives, Deaf Athletics, Golf, Handball and Judo.

Others are: Karate, Para Table Tennis, Scrabble, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
