After signing a life-changing contract with European heavyweights Bayern Munich from Adelaide United, winger Nestory Irankunda has decided on the country to represent at the international stage.

The 17-year-old is eligible to play for Tanzania, Australia or Burundi, but he has decided on the latter.

Irankunda revealed the developments in an Instagram story, captioning See You Soon with Burundi's flag.

The fleet-footed attacker was born on February 9, 2006, in Kigoma, Tanzania, to Burundian parents, to a rideshare father, Gideon Irankunda and a mother, Dafroza.

The youngster's parents were forced to flee Burundi to Tanzania after her older sister fell ill, coupled with the escalating civil war.

In Tanzania, the family was forced to a refugee camp where Irankunda was born.

At just three months, Irankunda and his family moved to Perth in Western Australia and later to Adelaide in North Australia, where he grew up and found his love for football.

Despite playing two official matches with the Australian U17 team, he is still in the position to switch national teams according to FIFA Regulations.
