The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder led Como to an impressive 10th-place finish in their return to Serie A.
What Fabregas said
Lionel Messi's wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, was recently spotted in Como, Italy, attending the team's friendly match against French side Lille.
Her presence fueled media speculation about a potential move for the Argentine superstar to Como, where his former teammate Cesc Fabregas is the manager.
Fabregas's strong performance drew interest from Inter Milan after Simone Inzaghi's departure, but he declined their offer. He addressed the Inter rumours and the Messi-to-Como speculation in a recent interview, via Sportal.
"I'm very happy here, and I have been since day one. I've always been upfront with the club, and I'm a very honest person. I've heard different stories, but I never had any intention of leaving. I never had any doubts. I signed a four-year contract, and you don't do that if you don't believe in a sustainable project."
The Spanish manager gave an intriguing response when asked about the possibility of Messi joining Como.
"Messi to Como? Never say never. He was with me on vacation, at my house. We're friends – our wives and kids too. But Leo is in America right now."
