Nigeria vs Morocco: I have a plan to beat them — Super Falcons coach bullish ahead of WAFCON final
Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has assured fans that his team will not rest on their laurels and will go into the final match of the WAFCON determined to claim glory.
Madugu's side passed the test of South Africa in the semi-final thanks to a late wonder goal from Michelle Alozie. They play host nation Morocco in the final on Saturday, and Madugu assures he has something in stock for the Atlas Lionesses.
What Madugu said
The 61-year-old has approached the competition on a game-by-game basis, setting up his squad based on the opposition at hand.
This has worked expertly so far, and Madugu implied that we will also see a tactic specifically set up to vanquish the hosts on D-day.
“We thank God for making it to the final,” he told the NFF’s media team. “I want to assure you that we are not going to relent or take our eyes off the ball. Our focus is on lifting the trophy in Rabat on Saturday.
“We knew South Africa, as Cup holders, would be difficult, but we were ready for them. I am glad that our tactics paid off.
“As I said before the tournament, we will always assess the opposition first and then determine what tactics would suit us better and serve our purpose. We have done these in our previous five games, and we will do the same in the final.”
Madugu was also bullish ahead of the semi-final against South Africa, stating that they could end Bayana Bayana’s unbeaten run, which stretched back to 2016—his team proved him right.
