Nigeria's under-17 women's team known as the Flamingos continue to make history in the Dominican Republic.

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the Flamingos recorded a 4-0 victory against Ecuador in their second group game of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

The Flamingos beat New Zealand 4-1 in their opening game and continued on a victorious note.

After a back-and-forth of chances between the two sides, Nigeria went in front through a penalty converted by Shakirat Abidemi Moshood in the 28th minute.

After the break, the Flamingos doubled their lead when the top scorer in the qualification series Chidera Harmony Chidi found the back of the net in the 54th minute assisted by Aishat Animashaun.

In the 66th minute, Peace Mary Effiong added a third to ensure the three points.

Chidi then found Moshood for her second of the game and fourth for the Flamingos deep into stoppage time.

The comfortable victory means the Flamingos now have six points, are top of the group, and progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.

The Flamingos return to action in their final group game against hosts the Dominican Republic scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
