Russell Westbrook was bought out by the Utah Jazz earlier this offseason, and the Denver Nuggets signed him as a free agent.
Currently ranked among the league's most decorated players individually, Westbrook is a nine-time All-Star and the 2017 NBA MVP.
In Denver, Westbrook will have the chance to compete for his first championship and is something that excites NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.
During the season, Jokic should be able to handle less offensive responsibility thanks to Westbrook, among other things.
Jokic provided an open response when questioned about Westbrook on Tuesday's media day.
Jokic said, “Of course we didn’t have a great relationship on the court (as opponents).
“We were fighting a lot and talking back and forth. But I know who he is outside of the court. Great teammate, worker, leadership, the guy you want to listen to, the guy you want to follow in the gym.
"So I think he’s a great player for us, and I think he’s gonna bring us all the good stuff.”
During media day, Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets, discussed Westbrook and highlighted his defensive prowess.
This was a position in which Westbrook excelled the previous season and which he can contribute greatly to Denver.
