Ogenyi Onazi: Super Eagles legend mourns Dad just after losing mum

Ogenyi Onazi, a former Nigerian international, lost his father, and he wonders what life would be like without him.

With 52 appearances, Onazi has been a member of the Super Eagles roster since 2012.

The former Lazio of Italy player made an emotional statement on social media to announce the passing of his father.

The midfield player, who was a member of the Super Eagles team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, was said to have a soft spot for his father.

Months after losing his mother, the football player lost his father.

Onazi used social media in September 2023 to express his grief for his mother Cecilia Onazi, who passed away and was buried in October of the same year.

His greatest influence was Oche, and he loved spending his holidays with his mother and two elder brothers, Agbo and Oche, in the city of Jos in central Nigeria.

He said, "Still mourning the passing away of my dear mother now my Dad is gone..

"What is remaining? Wicked world.. 🥲 #lordineedyourstrength''

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa said, "Take heart @onaziogenyi be strong for the family 💔🙏❤️😭

Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface added, "Stay strong bro."

Real Sociedad forward Sadiq Umar added, "le mie condoglianze 🤍🙏🏾 sappiamo che sei troppo forte."

Onazi loses his father just as the Super Eagles are set to compete at the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
