Onana set to be displaced as Emiliano Martínez pushes for Manchester United transfer
The Red Devils' manager, Ruben Amorim, is ready to sign a new goalkeeper, having reportedly lost patience with André Onana, with Monaco showing interest in the Cameroonian.
Martínez signed a new five-year contract with Aston Villa less than a year ago, but with the club failing to qualify for the Champions League, rumors have surfaced suggesting he may be looking to leave.
Martinez wants Man United move
According to The Sun, via Abola, Martínez dreams of a move to Old Trafford and has already rejected several offers to join his friend Lisandro Martínez.
The report suggests a bid in the region of £40 million (47 million euros) would be enough to tempt Aston Villa.
In the last home game, the goalkeeper's tearful farewell hinted at a possible departure.
An anonymous source told the newspaper that Amorim is a big admirer of the goalkeeper and even tried to sign him in 2020.
The same source claims that the manager wants to build a dressing room with "captains and leaders," and Martínez fits that profile.
Meanwhile, Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi is also being touted as a potential replacement for Onana at Manchester United.
