Osimhen praises Morocco for having good stadiums ahead of AFCON
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made it a point to praise the organisation and infrastructure of Morocco, adding that he looked forward to playing the AFCON in the North African nation.
What Osimhen said
The 26-year-old is currently with the Super Eagles squad in Rabat, Morocco, for the CAF World Cup qualifiers. The Nigerian scored twice in the semi-finals on Thursday against Gabon to help Eric Chelle's side clinch a place in the final against DR Congo.
Osimhen has experienced the state of infrastructure in Morocco and was evidently impressed by it, praising the country's love for football and co-signing their readiness for the AFCON.
“Morocco is truly a great football country," he said, per Foot Mercato. The level of infrastructure here is incredible. I am always very happy to come and play in Morocco, and I am convinced that the AFCON will be impressive given everything that is being put in place.”
Morocco have taken great strides in recent years, a result of the incredible investment and intentionality they have devoted to football.
They hosted the recent CAF Awards and the WAFCON and will host the AFCON later this year. They became the first African country to reach the World Cup final in Qatar, they shone at the Olympics, and they were recently crowned U-20 World Cup champions.
