Pack your bags — Guardiola tells SIX players to find new clubs ahead of new season
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is set to sanction the departure of up to six players as the club prepares for the upcoming season.
Following a campaign where City trailed Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League race, the club has been active in both the winter and summer transfer windows.
While new signings remain possible, Guardiola aims to streamline his squad, favoring a leaner roster.
According to The Athletic, 31-year-old defender John Stones is among those available for transfer.
Ilkay Gundogan, who rejoined City from Barcelona just a year ago, could also be on his way out. Midfielder Mateo Kovacic is being “touted” as a potential exit as part of the squad-trimming effort.
Additionally, young talents Nico O’Reilly, Claudio Echeverri, and Oscar Bobb are among those who may leave the Etihad.
City made the bulk of their signings before the Club World Cup, but there is still a need for a top-quality right-back and a new goalkeeper to either challenge or replace Ederson, who has been attracting interest from elsewhere.
