Quadri displayed impressive form in Germany, defeating world number eight and Japanese star Tomokazu Harimoto in the round of 32 with a 3-2 score.

However, his journey was cut short by German player Ricardo Walter, who defeated the Nigerian 3-2 in the round of 16.

In the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings, released on Wednesday, Quadri remains stagnant at the 21st position with 1405 points.

Quadri's stagnation means Egyptian rival Omar Assar has overtaken him, moving up to 20th with 1408 points.

Despite the setback, Quadri has another chance to improve his ranking soon when he plays at the WTT tournament in Fukuoka, Japan, next week.
