Rashford targets 36-year-old record at Barcelona
Marcus Rashford has completed his move to Barcelona and was officially unveiled by the club earlier today. During his first conference as a Barcelona player, the 28-year-old expressed his excitement about joining the club and how he planned to fit into the Blaugrana's system.
What Rashford said
Speaking at the first press conference, the former Aston Villa man explained that he expected the transition to occur seamlessly.
“It’s a team & it’s happy. When people are happy, it’s easy to go into the environment & I feel comfortable & express myself,” he said, per Barca Buzz. “It’s a historic club known for playing beautiful football. The dressing room is a very ambitious and a relaxed one.
“I know myself & my best skill is to adapt & change as per the circumstances on the pitch. I don’t have any fear regarding this. Of course we’re eager, me & the manager, to make it happen asap.”
He also expects to have a successful period at Barcelona, with his sights on Gary Lineker’s record for most goals scored by an Englishman in the club's history (58).
“I hope so,” Rashford said about breaking Lineker's record. "It’s not easy for players to come to such a big club & perform. But I’m ready & accept these challenges. “It’ll be good for me to score lots of goals & be the highest-scoring British player for Barça.”
