Revealed: 4 players reportedly against Lionel Messi's potential return to Barcelona
According to reports, four Barcelona stars are reportedly against the idea of the club re-signing Argentina and Paris Saint Germain superstar Lionel Messi.
Messi is set to be out of contract with PSG this June with a renewal far from close at the moment.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner arrived the Parc de Princes in 2021 following a controversial exit from Barcelona.
However, the club have remained underwhelming in Europe since his arrival.
Messi was also present as PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Bavarian giants Bayern Munich with the defending champions failing to score a single goal between the two legs.
Following the Parisian’s disappointing exit, Messi’s future has continued to be up for speculation.
Pulse Sports recently reported that the father of the 35-year-old Albiceleste skipper already shut down three reports surrounding Lionel Messi’s future, branding them as’ fake’.
But reports in France, claim that the Qatari-owned club is currently unsure if they want to extend the seven-time Ballon d’Or winners contract.
Four Barcelona players do not want Lionel Messi’s return
Messi is currently linked with a sensational return to the club of his dreams, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, publicly stating his desire to bring back the Blaugrana legend in the summer.
However, a report from El Nacional, says the idea of Messi rejoining Barcelona in the summer is not welcomed by a number of stars at the club.
The report suggests that Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Ousmane Dembele are not keen on the Argentine’s return.
According to the report, Lewandowski who joined the club last summer wants to be the star of the team and continue leading their attack next season.
But he knows that he will have to adjust his style to suit the PSG star's style or suffer a similar fate to that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic under Pep Guardiola.
For Ansu Fati, the #10 jersey which has been handed to him since the departure of the FIFA World Cup winner is a prized-possession he is not willing to give up anytime soon.
However, his future at the club is already in doubt and speculations continue to grow about a potential sale of the player.
Ousmane Dembele is reportedly against the move because he believes he will have to make way in the starting XI.
The Frenchman wants to start every week and knows it will be impossible with Messi in the squad.
And Marc Andre Ter Stegen has reportedly not had a good relationship with the Argentine.
The report claims that the goalkeeper had issues with the forward and believes Xavi will take away his captaincy (club's 4th) upon Messi’s return.
Messi's contract at PSG expires in the summer and they are unlikely to activate the option to extend it by another season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have already made no secret of their intention to bring back the mercurial 800-goal playmaker.
