More than a week after he put on a show for his club at Atalanta, the 27-year-old was at his best again in the Italian league.

He played from start to finish as the mid-table side earned a hard-fought win for the first time since January.

The Super Eagles defender has scored two goals and assisted one in 24 appearances for Empoli this season.

Following the win on Monday, Empoli get a breather from the danger zone in Serie A.

The win ended an eight-game winless streak, leaving them 14th on the table with 31 points, four more than their visitors Lecce who sit two places below.

Meanwhile, the first Serie A goal for Empoli was a memorable one which put him on an exclusive list that includes some Super Eagles legends.
