The Rwanda national football team known as the Amavubi have made a bold statement ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has framed their upcoming clash against Nigeria as a battle.

The team is already talking tough ahead of the matchday seven clash.

Nigeria, with three Africa Cup of Nations titles have been shaky, with only one win, leaving them trailing Rwanda.
Nigeria won the first leg in Kigali but the Amavubi bounced back with a 1-1 draw with Lesotho to go third in the group.

Following their arrival in Nigeria, the Amavubi hit the gym to fine-tune their preparations for the game.
They have now had multiple training sessions ahead of the clash as the coach and captain spoke to the media.
The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) put out a statement to detail the mood in camp ahead of the clash.

They said, "On the eve of the battle, voices rose in confidence.
"Head Coach and Captain, steady and sure, declaring readiness for tomorrow’s test.
"The final training done, the spirit soars, vibes high, minds aligned, destiny awaits."

This comes after Rwanda promised to "hunt Nigeria when they face off on the pitch in the qualification game.
The game between Nigeria and Rwanda is scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, September 6, 2025 and will kick off at 5:00 PM.
