SC Villa Turn to Another Serbian Coach in Bid to Revive Lost Glory
Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa have confirmed the appointment of Zeljko Kovacevic as their new head coach, effective immediately.
The club announced the news on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, via their official social media platforms. The statement read, in part, "SC Villa, Uganda’s record football champions, is delighted to announce the appointment of Zeljko Kovacevic as the new club head coach."
Kovacevic brings 12 years of coaching experience to the role, preparing him for the challenges of leading SC Villa. Although a defender during his playing days, he is considered a skilled tactician with a modern approach to the game.

SC Villa has pledged their full support to Kovacevic, aiming to help him achieve both his personal goals and the club's ambitions as quickly as possible.
This appointment concludes the search for a new coach following the breakdown of contract negotiations with another Serbian, Nemanja Milincic.
SC Villa, who have won a record 17 Premier League titles, parted ways with Milincic after finishing in a disappointing sixth place last season and hope that Kovacevic is the man to return them to their glory days.
The club badly fell off last season as having won the league in 2023-24, they saw Vipers storm to the summit while they slipped down the table and pressure is now on Kovacevic to revive their fortunes.
