The soft-spoken tactician was on hand to add that he couldn't have stayed at a better place like Maroons FC.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to challenge for more; I am so pleased to be staying at the club that gave me an opportunity to challenge for three more years," Senfuma told the club website.

But why did Senfuma remain on the Luzira-based side?: "I remained mainly because I still want to serve."

"But also, the direction the team wanted was the same as what I had in mind. I also wanted to develop the younger players I started with more; I couldn't just leave them hanging."

Having guided the side to a decent sixth-place finish last season and also earned the side promotion back to the top flight in the 2021/22 season, Senfuma's target remains clear ahead of next season.

"The main target next season is to maintain the momentum and not go back, go higher on the table."

"We plan on keeping the core of the team from last season as we boost it with four to five players," he added.

One of the Maroons; best players last season was goalkeeper Simon Tamale who picked up 13 clean sheets and seven Pilsner Man of the Match awards.

And according to the head coach, Maroons are doing everything possible to keep the shot-stopper.

"Currently, we're trying to engage goalkeeper Simon Tamale to renew his contract; if he stays, well and good; if he doesn't, then we shall endeavour to have a solution."
