St. Mary’s Kitende beat Amus College to qualify for CAF African Schools Championship

St. Mary’s Boarding School Kitende and Kawempe Muslim will represent Uganda at the 2023 CAF Pan-African Schools Championship, CECAFA qualifiers.

St. Mary’s Boarding School Kitende will represent Uganda at the 2023 CAF Pan-African Schools Championship later in the year.

The Kitende side qualified after beating Amus College to win the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association football under-14 boys’ championship that climaxed on Monday in Kabale.

Kawempe Muslim qualified from the girls' category after overcoming St.Noa 2-1 through goals from Angela Mawanda and Shadia Nabirye.

The two schools will represent Uganda at the CECAFA qualifiers to be held later in the year.

Royal Giants and Amus College represented the country in the respective boys' and girls’ tournaments last year.

The Giants went on to win the regional qualifiers but did not participate in the continental championships due to paperwork.

On the other side, Amus College finished third and won US$ 50,000 (approx. shs.180 million).

In other football competitions, Kawempe Muslim beat Boni Consili to win the USSSA Under-16 girls’ tournament.
