Steven Mukwala nets brace for Asante Kotoko to keep Golden Boot chase alive

Uganda Cranes forward Steven Desse Mukwala was yet again on the score-sheet as he netted twice for Asante Kotoko as they beat Bofoakwa 2-0 in the Ghana Premier League.

The former URA FC star netted two goals as the Porcupine Warriors took maximum points at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Saturday.

The brace took the talisman to seven Ghana Premier League goals in the 2023/24 season, so far.

Mukwala now sits third on the goal-scoring chart, just two goals behind current topscorers Isaac Mintah and Augustine Okrah of Aduana and Bechem United, respectively.

All the seven goals have come in the past six matches, an indicator of the kind of form the former Vipers SC player is in.

Mukwala's league tally after just 15 games is four off from the whole of last season when he netted 11 goals in 31 appearances.

Meanwhile, in helping Asante Kotoko to three points, the side ascended up the table to second with 29 points, three points adrift of leaders Samartex after 17 matches.

Mukwala and Asante Kotoko won't be back for league action till February 24, when they will visit Heart of Lions.
