While Iwobi soared, it was a mixed bag for other Nigerian stars. Toluwase Arokodare faced disappointment as Wolves suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, a worrying start to his new chapter in England.

Similarly, Christantus Uche watched from the bench as his Crystal Palace side piled pressure on West Ham.

Veteran striker Paul Onuachu proved his value once again, scoring a fantastic equaliser for Trabzonspor to save his side from defeat and take his tally to three goals for the season in Turkey.
