Supersonic Moses Simon leads Nantes to first home win in crazy 8-goal thriller
Nigeria Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon, is a man in fine form after leading Nantes to a first home win of the season in Ligue 1.
Simon stole the show as Nantes and Lorient played out an exhilarating eight-goal thriller at Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday evening.
The 28-year-old scored a late penalty and assisted two other goals in a man-of-the-match performance.
Simon’s form for Nantes
After scoring a stunning winner in the previous weekend, Moses has now followed it up with another brilliant display.
The Super Eagles winger was at his creative best as he inspired the Canaries to a first home win of the season in the French Ligue 1.
Apart from his goal and assists, he created the most chances (3), made two key passes, completed one dribble and made four recoveries in another fine showing.
In six outings this season, Simon now boasts two goals and three assists for Nantes in the Ligue 1.
Nantes move up
A dominant performance from the home side was almost marred by a late show from Lorient, who had gone four hours without scoring a goal.
Lorient started on the front foot and took an early lead but Nantes responded well to going behind with Moses involved in the initial equaliser scored by Matthis Abline heading into the break.
Two goals in the space of nine second half minutes completely turned things around and in Nantes’ favour before Lorient pulled another goal back to make it 3-2.
Nigeria’s Simon set up the fourth goal for Nantes but Lorient won’t go down without a fight as they pulled another back to make it 4-3.
However, the last laugh will belong to Nantes as Moses sealed the win with a penalty in added time.
The victory was Nantes’ second at home in 12 matches, nut second this season which moves them up to 6th on the table.
