Lwanga, 29, featured for 90 minutes during APR's 1-1 draw in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg tie against Somalia's Gadiidka, home to compatriot Nicholas Kagaba.

The visitors took the lead through a beautiful long-range effort from Nicholas Kagaba in the 33rd minute as the former URA FC winger pounced on a poor clearance to silence the capacity home crowd.

However, Lwanga's combative play and experience in the holding midfield role helped the hosts launch several attacks going forward.

It finally paid off when Nigerian forward Victor Mbaoma levelled for the hosts two minutes after the restart.

The draw means APR FC must avoid conceding when they travel for the return leg to reach the first-round stage.

'The Lions', the most successful side in Rwandan football, is bidding to reach the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time.

APR FC reversed their decision to sign foreigners before the start of the season, making Lwanga their first foreign acquisition, although they added at least four more foreign players.
