Tanzania: Aucho’s Yanga Solidifies Lead in Ligi Kuu Bara
Cement Mzize was the hero of the day, netting the only goal in the 71st minute, which expanded the team’s lead at the pinnacle of the league table to 24 points after nine games.
Aucho delivered a commanding performance in midfield, although his fellow countryman Gift Fred was absent, not even making the substitute’s bench.
Under the guidance of Miguel Angel Gamondi, Young Africans SC have now secured five successive victories, bouncing back from their solitary league defeat against Ihefu SC on October 4th with a 2-1 score.
This win places Yanga six points clear of their closest rivals Simba SC, who are sitting third with 18 points after seven matches and are preparing to face Namungo on Thursday.
The league will pause for an international break next week, during which Aucho will join the Uganda Cranes for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Uganda Cranes are set to play Guinea and Somalia on November 17 and 21 in Morocco.
Aucho will rejoin Young Africans SC for their CAF Champions League campaign, which starts with an away game against Algerian team Belouizdad on November 25.
