Tanzania fly to Tunisia to start preps for Algeria Africa Cup of Nations final qualifier

Up to seven players from Young Africans have been called for Tanzania’s upcoming do-or-die encounter against Algeria in the final Group F qualifier of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on September 4th.

Algerian coach Adel Amrouche has named a team of 25 players dominated by the local-based legion, who he believes will get him the point needed to qualify.

Algeria have already qualified after winning all their five games, and Niger is mathematically out of the race with only two points.

That leaves East African neighbours Tanzania and Uganda to battle for the remaining slot.

Local stars

Captain Mbwana Samata and two-goal heroes Simon Msuva, who play for Greek side Paok and JS Kybalie from Algeria, respectively, headline the squad.

Msuva comes to the team with experience playing in the Algerian top division.

The striker has scored two goals against Uganda and Niger that delivered the six points for the Taifa Stars.

Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho will face some familiar faces on the other side, as seven of his teammates will be in the team.

They include metacha Manata, Ibrahim Hamid, Bakari Mwamnyeto and Clement Mzize.

Others are Mudathir Yahya, Jonas Mkude and Dickson Job.

The team’s first batch of players has already arrived in Tunisia for a five-day training and acclimatization camp.
