That’s my club – Super Eagles icon Ighalo hails Manchester United’s stunning Carrington upgrade
Super Eagles icon Odion Ighalo has expressed his pride and excitement following the unveiling of Manchester United’s newly refreshed Carrington training complex.
The state-of-the-art facility, officially opened on Friday, represents a £50 million redevelopment and marks the biggest upgrade of Carrington since its original opening in 2000.
Funded by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe as part of a £300 million investment into the club, the refurbishment was overseen by famed Mancunian architect Norman Foster, as reported by the club.
Designed with input from players and staff, the revamped Carrington offers advanced sports science technology, enhanced nutrition and recovery areas, and spaces that promote team unity and wellbeing.
Most of the club’s leadership and players have now moved into the building, aligning football operations and executive management under one roof to foster a winning culture.
Taking to Manchester United’s official Instagram account, Ighalo left a heartfelt comment simply stating, “Big change wow🙌🏾 that’s my club,” capturing his deep connection to the Red Devils.
Ighalo’s reaction reflects the pride many former and current players feel about Manchester United’s ambitious vision and reinvestment into their infrastructure, aiming to support the team’s performance as they approach the new Premier League season.
The 36-year-old Nigeria spent two seasons at the club after he swapped the Saudi Pro League for the Red Devils under the guidance of former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils will kick off their campaign at Old Trafford on August 17, and with this cutting-edge Carrington complex, the club is signaling its intent to combine tradition with modern excellence, a place truly worthy of the nickname Ighalo proudly affixed: “my club.”
