Lionel Messi's eldest son, Thiago Messi, was praised for grabbing the headlines during a minor tournament but there were no pictures or videos to back up the claims of him bagging 11 goals.
Multiple reports claimed that Thiago demonstrated his extraordinary skill by scoring five goals in the first half and six more in the second while playing as an attacking midfielder and sporting the recognizable No. 10 shirt.
Did Thiago Messi really score 11 goals?
It was claimed that Thiago Messi showed his unrelenting attacking instincts and finishing ability, scoring in the 12th, 27th, 30th, 35th, 44th, 51st, 57th, 67th, 76th, 87th, and 89th minutes.
It was also rumoured that Thiago Messi's teammate Diego Luna Jr. scored the game's lone other goal in what was a rout.
However, it has now been debunked that the news is fake, and the Inter Miami vs Atlanta game in the MLS U13 tournament was a figment of the imagination of some of Lionel Messi's fanbase.
Furthermore, U13 players do not play 90 minutes of football. Instead, they are allowed two halfs spanning a maximum of 35 minutes each.
