Tottenham manager not thinking about title despite incredible Premier League start
Australian manager Ange Postecoglou has banished any talk of a possible Premier League title for Tottenham, suggesting that it was too early to entertain such thoughts.
Postecoglou enjoying magnificent start to Premier League life
Tottenham have enjoyed an unbelievable start to the 2023/24 Premier League season and are one of only two teams in the competition who have yet to taste defeat in the campaign.
Spurs have won seven and drawn two of their opening nine fixtures in the Premier League and sit above other teams in the standings with 23 points from a possible 30.
To buttress the club’s excellent start to the season, Postecoglou has claimed both the August and September Manager of the Month awards, while the Player of the Month awards for those months have gone to Tottenham players as well.
Postecoglou not thinking about title
Despite the superb start, Postecoglou is not getting ahead of himself and has shut down any talk of Tottenham winning their first-ever Premier League title.
Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace, Postecoglou told journalists, "There's a real good reason that no manager will talk about the title in October and November and that's because we all know there's a long way to go.
"We don't talk in those terms with the players, my main information flow is about how can we keep improving, how can we tackle the challenge of being in the most competitive league in the world on a weekly basis."
Postecoglou could become a Tottenham legend if he can secure a league title or a cup of any kind for the club, which has been plagued by a worrisome run without a major trophy.
