Transfer News: Chelsea offer swap deal to land Manchester United wantaway star Garnacho
Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave Manchester United after falling out with manager Ruben Amorim, and has been left out of the club's pre-season tour.
The decision follows Garnacho’s public criticism of Amorim after United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham, coupled with his inconsistent performances.
Chelsea are reportedly confident they can unlock Garnacho’s potential and see him as a valuable addition to their attack despite their existing depth.
The Red Devils have lowered their asking price but still seek around £50m for the winger, who has 93 Premier League appearances and eight caps for Argentina.
Chelsea to push for Garnacho
According to The Athletic, Chelsea proposed a swap deal involving strikers Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to offset the cost, but United have rejected this, deeming Jackson’s £80m valuation excessive.
Jackson, who has been underwhelming since joining Chelsea, and Nkunku, who has struggled to adapt since his £52m move from RB Leipzig in 2023, are both available for transfer.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s manager, is prepared to let Jackson depart following the arrivals of João Pedro and Liam Delap from Brighton and Ipswich, respectively.
Meanwhile, Pulse Sports reported that the Red Devils have become the favourites to land Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who is available for around 70 million euros.
