Travis Mutyaba speaks for the first time since joining Zamalek

Uganda Cranes attacking prodigy Travis Mutyaba completed a big-money move to Egyptian and African African football heavyweights Zamalek.

Mutyaba's move to Zamalek was made official on Monday, ending a week of reports.

The youngster was tied to a long-term four and a half years employment contract with the five-time CAF Champions League winners.

Upon putting pen to paper, the 18-year-old made his excitement known.

"New home, a new chapter," Mutyaba took to his social media handles on Tuesday.

"Thanks to everyone for the wishes, I am really so happy and humbled. God above all," he added.

Prior to the move, he had been out of competitive club football since the conclusion of the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League League season in June at SC Villa.

It had been reported that Mutyaba would join Georgian outfit Dinamo Tbilisi after Villa, but nothing came official.

Besides Villa, Mutyaba has previously featured for Vipers Junior Team, Synergy in the Futsal competition, Bulemeezi in the Buganda Masaza Cup as well as Gombe High School.

He has been through various national team ranks, playing at the U17, U20 and for the senior team the Uganda Cranes.

Mutyaba joins compatriots Joseph Ochaya, Richard Basangwa, and Allan Kyambadde, among others in Egypt.
