UCL: How Arsenal created Champions League history after humiliating Real Madrid

Arsenal made Champions League history with Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. 

The Gunners carried a 3-0 advantage from the first leg into the reverse fixture in Spain and added two more goals to seal a 5-1 aggregate success.

Mikel Arteta’s men secured a Champions League semi-final spot against Paris Saint-Germain with their emphatic triumph over the 15-time European champions. 

Bukayo Saka missed an early penalty for Arteta’s men but later scored to make it 4-0 on aggregate. 

Vinicius Junior quickly pulled a goal back for Real Madrid, but Gabriel Martinelli then scored in stoppage time to seal the win for Arsenal. 

Arsenal kept their composure in Madrid despite penalty drama at both ends, as Saka missed his and Los Blancos’ was overturned by VAR.

Their latest success confirmed what many expected: a semi-final berth against Ligue 1 giants PSG. 

Before Champions League exertions against Luis Enrique’s PSG, Arsenal will play Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace in the Premier League on April 20 and 23, respectively.
