Uganda Queen Cranes Fall to Nigeria
Uganda’s U20 national women’s team have fallen to Nigeria in the semifinals of the 2023 Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
The Falconets defeated the Queen Cranes 2-0 in a contest played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Monday.
Sheryl Botes’ charges managed to hold on for the largest part of the game but were broken in the 74th minute when Adaobi Okah broke the deadlock.
Chaimaka Okwechukwu added a second for Nigeria in the 89th minute, sealing the victory and sending the West African side into the final.
Nigeria awaits the winner of the other semifinal between hosts Ghana and Senegal in the final.
Meanwhile, the Queen Cranes will have a chance for a bronze medal in the third-place playoff against the loser between Ghana and Senegal.
Nigeria will be hoping to defend the crown they won in 2019.
