Uganda Crested Cranes skipper Ruth Aturo kept a clean sheet as Kenya’s Vihiga Queens beat AS Kigali 1-0 to sail to the semifinals of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifier in Lugogo.

Bertha Omitta grabbed the lone winner shortly after the half-hour mark, nicking the ball over the keeper to complete a team move.

Ugandan trio of Aturo, Winnie Babirye and midfielder Anita Namata all started the game for the 2021 CECAFA representatives.

In the day's earlier game, Esther Mabanza struck in the 56th minute to give JKT Queens from Tanzania a 1-0 win over Zanzibar’s New Generation.

The two results mean that both JKT and Vihiga Queens have accumulated six points from their opening two games and have, therefore, qualified for the semifinals,

They face each other on Saturday 19th August, in the final game of Group B, in a match that will determine the final standing.
